P1639 - Vehicle ID block corrupted or not programmed.
Test sequence and decision path
1. Reflash the PCM as a new engine control module
and enter the Vehicle Identification Number
(VIN). Run a KOER test and check if P1639 is
logged again.
2. If P1639 is not logged again, the problem is
resolved.
3. If P1639 is logged again, replace the PCM and
run a KOER test to ensure that the problem is
resolved.
Open the corresponding manual page for wiring diagrams and figures
and enter the Vehicle Identification Number
(VIN). Run a KOER test and check if P1639 is
logged again.
2. If P1639 is not logged again, the problem is
resolved.
3. If P1639 is logged again, replace the PCM and
run a KOER test to ensure that the problem is
resolved.
