P1336 - Crankshaft/Camshaft sensor range or performance

Cautions and notes

CAUTION: This code may be generated in the
Primary or Secondary Powertrain Control Module
(PCM). Check that you are working on the correct
half of the engine.

Test sequence and decision path

1. Connect the WDS and confirm that P1336 is
logged. Note any other logged DTCs.

2. If any of P0315, P0340 or P0345 are logged,
resolve these problems first and return to this procedure only if P1336 is logged again after clearing the P0315, P0340 or P0345 codes.

3. Using the datalogger, record the CKP and CID
signals for both banks during a KOER test.
Stop the test and compare the recorded signal
traces. Each CID (camshaft sensor) pulse should
occur once every engine revolution. Go to step 4.

4. If any CID pulse is missing or malformed, swap
the camshaft sensors bank to bank and repeat the
datalogger check.
If the fault swaps to the opposite bank, replace
the faulty camshaft sensor. Clear the P1336 code
and run a KOER test to ensure that the problem is
resolved.
If the fault remains on the original engine bank,
service the camshaft sensor wiring as necessary.
