Manual fault definition
P0552 - Power steering pressure sensor - low input.
Test sequence and decision path
1. Connect the WDS and check that P0552 is
logged.
2. Set the datalogger to monitor the power steering
pressure signal. The signal should vary within the
range x - y when the steering is moved with the
vehicle stationary and the engine running.
3. Disconnect the power steering pressure switch
connector (C2469). Switch on the ignition and
check for +5volts between harness connector
pins C2469 - 2 (+5 V) and C2469 - 1 (Signal
Return).
If +5v is present, shake/wiggle the harness from
the primary PCM to the pressure switch. Look for
any drop in the supply level due to an intermittent short to ground.
Also check the other branches of the signal and
return lines from splices 19 and 20 to the cabin
and forward harnesses.
If no defect is identified, go to step 3
If any defect is identified, service the harness as
necessary. Reconnect all components and clear
the P0552 code. Run a KOER test and include
some lock to lock steering movements. If the test
is satisfactory with no repetition of the P0552
code, the problem is resolved.
4. Check the continuity of the PSPT signal line from
C2469 - 3 at the pressure switch connector to
PCM pin C0635-14.
Shake/wiggle the harness whilst checking continuity to check for possible short circuit to ground.
If no short circuit is detected, replace the sensor
and run a KOER test to ensure that the problem is
resolved.

necessary. Reconnect all components and clear
the P0552 code. Run a KOER test and include

is satisfactory with no repetition of the P0552
code, the problem is resolved.
