P0460 - Fuel level input circuit out of range low.
Test sequence and decision path
1. Check the actual fuel level in the tank and the
recent sequence of tank fills. This code can be
logged if the tank has been run to empty or if it
has been overfilled.
If the tank has recently been emptied or overfilled, connect the WDS. Record logged DTCs
and then clear the primary PCM.
2. Ignition off. Access the Central Electronic Module
connectors. Disconnect C0587 and measure the
resistance of the fuel level sender unit across pins
C0587-7 and C0587-5.
The resistance should be in the range - 10 Ω with
the tank full, rising to 204Ω with the tank empty
If the resistance is consistent with the actual fuel
level, reassemble all components and go to step
4. If the resistance is out of range, access the fuel
tank connector C0115. Repeat the sensor resistance check between C0115-2 and C0115-5. If
the resistance reading is now in range, service the
sensor circuit as necessary. Reconnect all components and run a KOER test to ensure that the problem is resolved.
If the resistance reading is still out of range, go to
step 3.
3. Drain the fuel tank (Workshop Manual procedure) and replace the fuel level sender unit. Reassemble all components and run a brief road test
to ensure that the problem is resolved.
4. The fuel level sensor appears to be serviceable.
Check the logged DTCs for any CAN related
codes and resolve them. Clear the logged DTCs
and run a KOER test to ensure that the problem is
resolved.
